The genesis of this project was a failed reclad, completed five
years prior to our involvement and already leaking. This Seattle
couple came to us concerned about water damage, heat gain and
ventilation issues. The dated, “builder’s special” look of the
house was the last straw.
We removed damaged materials, cleaned up the structure, and
wrapped the entire house in a rainscreen skin of
metal, cedar and fiber-cement board. New windows and doors provide natural ventilation, light, and expansive views. The architectural details knit it all together.
Interior updates create a cohesive space that provides
space to show off the owners’ growing art and midcentury furniture collection.
Bright color and durable materials meshed with passive green design
strategies to transform a soggy gray box into a house our clients
and their family love again.
